Ghost Story #002

"Occupied"

The sign appeared one morning without explanation.

OCCUPIED.

No wires.
No screws.
Just hanging on the inside of the left stall door.

The stall was empty.
At least, that's what people thought.

Sometimes, when the arcade was quiet, someone would try the handle.
Locked.

They waited.
Minutes passed.
No sound from inside.

No footsteps.
No breathing.
No movement.

Then the sign would slowly flip.

VACANT.

The door opened easily.
The stall was always empty.

But if you looked closely,
the mirror above the sink was fogged.

As if someone had been standing there for a long time,
watching.

After closing time, the staff stopped checking that stall.

The sign still flips on its own.

And once, very late at night, a security camera caught something strange:

The sign changed to OCCUPIED.

No one entered.
No one left.

The camera feed went dark.
